Branson, MO (June 29, 2011) – The Comfort Inn & Suites Branson Meadows has once again been selected by Choice Hotels International as “ Comfort Inn of the Year” for the Comfort Inn brand. This award was announced during the company’s 57th annual convention in Boston.

“Being selected as the best of the best from the over 1,995 strong Comfort Inn brand shows that Comfort Inn & Suites in Branson is an exceptional performer, “said Bruce Haase, executive vice president, global brand operations. “When it comes to operational excellence and guest satisfaction, this hotel stands out among its peers as the best – which is quite an accomplishment.” The Comfort Inn & Suites won the award two years ago and was a finalist last year as well, making it one of the most awarded Comfort Inns in the United States.

The best of each Choice Hotels brand is selected by reviewing the property’s guest satisfaction scores, the quality assurance scores and unannounced on-site inspections. Choice Hotels presents the awards for properties that best demonstrate lodging excellence by offering services and guest experiences that set the standards for the entire industry.

“We are deeply honored to receive this award and it reaffirms our team’s commitment to providing guests with an exceptional experience,” said General Manager Steve Graber. On hand to join in the celebration were owners Carroll and Janice Myer, Chris and Sonja Myer, and Gail Myer, of Myer Hotels. “Our staff is very committed to making sure our guests have the best experience each and every time they visit us.”

Myer Hotels is no stranger to having top ranked hotels. It has been a past finalist for “Comfort Inn of the Year” six times. Another Myer property, the Comfort Inn at Thousand Hills has also been a finalist for this award since 2009. This year the Comfort Inn at Thousand Hills was a close second to this prestigious award. “To have two properties in the same town in the top three is incredible!” said Chris Myer, Vice President of Marketing.

College of the Ozarks invites the public to attend the 22nd annual Honor America on Sunday, June 26. The event will begin with a picnic at 4:30 p.m. where attendees can purchase barbecue items, followed by a musical entertainment beginning at 5 p.m. and a patriotic program and concert at 8 p.m.

“Honor America has become a tradition that people of all ages can enjoy, “said Elizabeth Andrews, College of the Ozarks public relations director. “ Kids can play with tinker toys, make bubbles and much more, while parents and grandparents can enjoy great music, barbecue and relax. Folks who attend will experience an atmosphere reminiscent of an old-fashioned patriotic celebration.”

This year’s event will host a new slate of entertainers. Before the sky lights up with fireworks, the cast from Red, Hot… and Blue! will perform American classics from the 40s, 50s and 60s. The Petersen Family Band of Branson will entertain attendees with bluegrass and southern gospel music.

“Patriotism is a main focus at College of the Ozarks, and Honor America is a great way to celebrate that,” said Andrews. “I can’t think of a better way to kick off the Fourth of July holiday than by coming to the College’s beautiful campus to listen to music that encompasses the American spirit and to pay tribute to our nation. So, please join us as we honor America.”

After dark, an elaborate fireworks display will conclude the event. Honor America is free and is open to the public, but do not forget your lawn chairs. Please do not bring alcohol or tobacco products, fireworks or pets onto campus. For more information, please call the Public Relations office at (417) 690-2212.

TheBranson Gospel Music Revival (formerly Convention) is returning to Branson, Missouri for the third time next week. The four-day annual event heads to a new venue this year, the Tri-Lakes Center, 2527 State Highway 248 in Branson.

Taking place Tuesday, June 28 – Friday, July 1, the gospel celebration consists of daily matinee and evening concerts featuring approximately 75 Gospel musicians from across the United States.
Dino, HisSong, Beyond the Ashes, Kenny Bishop, Ann Downing, Mike Allen, The Williamsons, Praise Incorporated, 2nd Generation, Voices of Glory, Jay Stone Singers, McMillan and Life, Rod Burton, Lynda Lynn, Sunday Edition, Mystery Men, and more will be part of the Revival, which organizers say puts the spotlight on the gospel message.

Also returning will be the popular SGN Scoops Diamond Awards, as well as the Tribute to Albert Brumley and “Piano Praise” segments. Additionally, a “New Faces” afternoon concert geared toward teens and those “young at heart” has been added. A Branson GMR Prayer Team, who will pray with audience members and artists alike during the week, is a new addition this year as well.
“We continue to learn and grow and are striving to make this an even more enjoyable event, one that continues to attract new people to this great city every summer,” co-owner and host Rod Burton stated. “Meanwhile, our focus continues to be on fostering a time of refreshing and encouragement for our artists as well as the audience.”

Having won the “Pacesetter of the Year” award from AbsolutelyGospel.com for the second consecutive year, Burton and his wife and partner, Kelly Burton, look forward to building on the success of what they still consider a very new event.

“It has been a true honor to receive some Gospel industry accolades,” Kelly mentions. “What we hope that sort of recognition translates to is more people coming to hear the truly fantastic artists who gather here with us in Branson every summer, so they can receive the message of faith being offered through gospel music.”

On that note, the couple has announced that Wednesday, June 29, will be “Disaster Relief Night” at the Revival, with a portion of all ticket and program book proceeds going to aid victims of Branson and Hollister area flooding as well as the recent catastrophic tornado in Joplin, Missouri. Flood damage along Table Rock Lake in April has many homeowners and businesses cleaning up and rebuilding, but the mops are put away at the Pink Door in Hollister.  The hard work of Skaggs Regional Medical Center volunteers has quickly turned around the Pink Door thrift shop, which is ready to open its door June 28.

The Pink Door is operated by Skaggs Volunteer Services.  It lost everything in the flood.  “Our volunteers worked daily for the past two months to clean up the Pink Door and get it ready to reopen,” says Corene Spilman, President of Skaggs Volunteer Services.  “They went to work immediately after flood waters receded, tearing out sheet rock, pulling up carpet and throwing away all of the merchandise, which was damaged by flood waters.”

The Pink Door uses proceeds from the sales of donated items to help fund various purchases and projects for Skaggs Regional Medical Center.   In addition to the Pink Door thrift shop, Skaggs Volunteer Services generates funds through the Forget-Me-Not Gift Shop in the Skaggs Outpatient Center and various fundraising projects coordinated throughout the year.  In 2010 Skaggs Volunteer Services provided the hospital with more than $68-thousand for various projects and needed equipment.

The Pink Door reopens Tuesday, June 28 with hours of operation 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  A grand re-opening celebration will be Wednesday, July 13, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with refreshments, a ribbon-cutting ceremony, and door prizes.

Donations may be placed in the drop box outside The Pink Door, located at 181 1st Street in Hollister, inside the Turkey Creek Junction Shopping Center.

Skaggs Volunteer Services first began in October 27, 1949 as the Estella Skaggs Auxiliary.  It served the hospital alongside the former Red Cross Volunteers, later known as the Skaggs Volunteers.  As recent as 2008, the auxiliary and volunteers joined forces to create what is now known as Skaggs Regional Medical Center Volunteers.

There are more than 300 Skaggs Volunteers serving in many areas:  hospital, hospice, Mended Hearts and chaplaincy, Forget-Me-Not Gift Shop and Pink Door thrift shop.  For more details on becoming a Skaggs Volunteer visit www.skaggs.net/volunteer or call (417) 335-7114.
