Author Lecture and Book Signing featuring Dick Hrebik Author, Adventurer, Marine

Saturday, June 11, 2-4 pm at The Murder Rock Club House

Join us Saturday, June 11th at 2pm at the Murder Rock Club House. The Communities at Branson Creek invites you to a special event featuring one of our residents, Dick Hrebik. Dick is an author, historian, adjunct lecturer, actor, singer, adventurer, and retired Marine major who brings humor and challenging questions to his books and speeches. Hrebik holds an MBA degree and is an arbitrator for the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA). For 22 years he was the Director of Administration of large law firms, including the Washington, DC office of Jones Day. He is a voice from the Silent Generation who has traveled to and lived in 80 countries, having climbed some of the highest mountains in the world.

Dick’s new book, A Warrior Among Us has just been released. Enjoy an authors seminar and a Q & A session on this book and his last work, Corps Vet, A Memoir from the Silent Generation. Both books will be for sale during this event.

Corps Vet tells the story of hope, determination and courage in one boy born to Czech and German immigrant parents during the Great Depression, growing up in a small Southern Illinois coal mining town and a suburb of Chicago. In search of the American Dream, as a teenager, he began traveling around the world experiencing the mysteries of 80 countries, including serving 23 years as a U.S. Marine. He overcame adversity, embraced life changes, met famous people, and had a few thrills and secret missions along the way. Today this member of the Silent Generation remains loyal to God, country and Corps.

The Warrior Among Us – A Warning for America
After the destruction of their home planet, Sarnificus, Deke, who later becomes a U.S. MARINE, and his followers migrate to Earth where they find a politically charged planet in the midst of its own violent upheaval. Led by Deke, the Sarnifikans live secretly among us, actually morphed inside many of us, while studying our warlike behavior and using their advanced knowledge to prevent the disaster that happened on their planet from happening here. But can they? It seems Deke’s nemesis, Ali Khan, has followed him to Earth, along with his Sarnifikite followers and aligned themselves with al Qaeda, bent on world dominance. Instead of bringing peace to us, they hasten the destruction of us through the onslaught of several wars. Can Deke stop them? Can he save Earth?

24th Anniversary of Fireburst in Kimberling City Includes Music, Kids Activities and More for Free

Saturday July 2nd marks the 24th Anniversary of Fireburst at Table Rock Lake. Hosted by the Table Rock Lake Chamber of Commerce, the event takes place in the center of Kimberling City overlooking the lake. This year the Chamber is excited about the headline bands including M-Dock and Members Only. The event will be a full day of activities, including 2 bounce houses, a 16 foot blow up water slide and basketball hoops for the kids. Food, craft, retail and nonprofit vendors will be there as well to keep young and old busy throughout the day. People are welcome to bring lawn chairs and blankets into the event. No alcohol is allowed.

The event is free to the public and survives solely on sponsorships and donations.”We are very excited about this year’s Fireburst. Our goal is to provide a great family-friendly, community event that anyone and everyone can afford to come to. Our partners this year are making this possible,” says Events and Communications Manager, Allyson Tuckness. Major sponsors include The Springfield News Leader, Port of Kimberling Marina & Resort, Steiner Talent, White River Valley Electric, and The Branson Tri Lakes News, among others.

The event will begin at 10:00 am and will end as soon as the fireworks are over. Free parking is being provided by many local businesses in the area and the area churches are helping out with shuttling people to and from the event. The fireworks will be put on by Lantis Fireworks out of St. Louis and the music will be broadcast over Hometown Radio so even those enjoying the event by boat and car will be able to listen to the music while enjoying the fireworks over the water.
