Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre opens in Branson<\/p>\n
Branson – It would seem that something goes wrong in every wedding. Usually these make for funny stories after the fact. But who would’ve thought that a death at a wedding would be good for so many laughs. And not just a death…a murder.<\/p>\n
Detectives, clowns, millionaires and musicians converge in Til Death Do We Part, a new interactive comedy about a wedding gone wrong performed by Ozarks Murder Mysteries at the Circle B Theatre.<\/p>\n
In ‘Til Death Do We Part, old loves, rivalries and ambitions surface as a wedding is interrupted by murder. Not only is the audience challenged to determine whodunit, they are drawn into the events themselves.<\/p>\n
Guests interact with the characters during dinner – a pre-wedding reception provided by Showtime Catering, and later attempt to solve the mystery over wedding cake.<\/p>\n
Fred Athay, managing director of Ozark Murder Mysteries, believes there is fertile soil for comedy theater in Branson, which is known more for music and comedy revues.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt’s something very unique to Branson,\u201d said Fred Athay, managing director of Ozark Murder Mysteries. \u201cThere isn’t really anything like it. I’ve thought for years that a show that’s scripted and well acted, yet interactive with the audience, would be successful here.\u201d<\/p>\n
Sam Hoover plays the lead role of Bruce Montgomery, the groom engaged to marry millionaire heiress Tina Louise, played by Kim Fertig. Other cast members include Kerry Richardson as the folksy father of the bride, Karen Richardson as the manipulative mother of the groom, Rick Swan as the ex-boyfriend, Angela Walker as the ex-girlfriend, and Blake Walker as the intoxicated judge. Other cast members include Tim Adkins, Heather Beyer, Sam Brotherton, Norma Judah, Jenna Murphy, Lisa Murphy, Jessica Nordberg, Lisa Straka, Nancy Town, and Amie White.<\/p>\n
Athay says the response from the groups initial performances has been very positive.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe’ve actually had people saying they haven’t laughed this hard in years,\u201d Athay said. \u201cThe response has been really encouraging. The talent and the commitment of the cast tells me that this is really going to be great. But the audience response to the story itself is also really positive.\u201d<\/p>\n
