{"id":30861,"date":"2012-08-16T10:03:16","date_gmt":"2012-08-16T16:03:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/broadcast.branson.com\/?p=30861"},"modified":"2012-08-16T10:03:16","modified_gmt":"2012-08-16T16:03:16","slug":"national-navajo-code-talkers-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/broadcast.branson.com\/2012\/08\/16\/national-navajo-code-talkers-day\/","title":{"rendered":"National Navajo Code Talkers Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/GovJanBrewer?ref=stream\">Governor Jan Brewer<\/a><br \/>\nThirty years ago today, President Reagan proclaimed August 14 as National Navajo Code Talkers Day \u2013 the first official accolade given to these true American heroes following their invaluable contribution to our country\u2019s victory in World War II. <\/p>\n<p>Today, I was blessed with the opportunity to visit the Navajo Nation Veterans Memorial, in Window Rock, as we paid tribute to the more than 400 men whose language was the basis for \u2018the unbreakable code\u2019 that proved instrumental in saving countless American lives. As with all of our WWII veterans, the time we have left with our remaining Code Talkers must be cherished. We can never fully re-pay them for coming to our nation\u2019s aid during its darkest of times, but we can honor their service and memorialize their sacrifice.<\/p>\n<p>On this special anniversary, I ask that Arizonans join me in offering our gratitude to the Navajo Code Talkers.
