Stick Horse Rodeo & Family Fun Day Celebrates Program Milestones<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n BRANSON, MO \u2013 Experience Dolly Parton\u2019s Imagination Library as it comes to life at the \u201cWhoadeo\u201d on, Saturday, June 7th<\/sup> from 10AM to 1PM at Dixie Stampede in Branson. The free event is designed to celebrate the joy of reading among families, while children enjoy riding stick horses in \u201crodeo style\u201d events. <\/span><\/p>\n What\u2019s a \u201cWhoadeo\u201d?<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n The \u201cWhoadeo\u201d event will showcase 5 competitions in Dixie Stampede\u2019s main arena including: Barrel Racing, Pole Bending, Trail or Obstacle Course, Bucking Horse and Jumping. Children and adults will compete on a \u201cstick horse\u201d as they race around barrels, jump over obstacles or manage to not get \u201cbucked\u201d off their horse. Prizes will be awarded for top times and creative \u201cbucking\u201d. <\/span><\/p>\n The Imagination Library \u2018Whoadeo\u2019 is a fun event for all ages. \u201cWe just want families to connect reading with fun,\u201d Dolly said. \u201cThere\u2019s nothing better for a child\u2019s mind than reading, so we hope that with each book, the child will dream more, learn more, care more and be more.” <\/span><\/p>\n Also featured during the \u201cWhoadeo\u201d at Dixie Stampede will be kids\u2019 games, face painting, animal exhibitions, as well as giveaways from companies and public agencies that serve families. <\/span><\/p>\n Imagination Library is proud to celebrate another year of exciting growth. At the close of 2007, 732 communities in 43 states, the District of Columbia, 6 Canadian provinces, and 1 Canadian territory participated in the program. Currently 420,000 children receive a book each and every month. Since its inception, over 14 million books have been distributed nationwide. <\/span><\/p>\n Proceeds from Dixie Stampede Dinner & Show performance on Saturday, June 7th<\/sup> will be donated to support the growth of Dolly Parton\u2019s Imagination Library.<\/span><\/p>\n About Imagination Library<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n The Imagination Library is a completely free program of the Dollywood Foundation, providing a new book every month from the day a child is born until the youngster reaches age 5. The program serves all pre-school children of Taney and Stone counties, including newborns, whose parent completes an official registration form and returns it to Dixie Stampede. Once the registration is complete, the child will begin receiving a book a month by mail. More information about the Dollywood Foundation and Dolly Parton\u2019s Imagination Library may be found at www.ImaginationLibrary.com. <\/span><\/p>\n Dixie Stampede\u2019s sponsorship provides full funding for the Imagination Library in Stone and Taney counties in Missouri and assists in the program\u2019s national expansion.
