{"id":56573,"date":"2016-11-18T16:52:30","date_gmt":"2016-11-18T22:52:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/broadcast.branson.com\/?p=56573"},"modified":"2016-11-18T16:52:30","modified_gmt":"2016-11-18T22:52:30","slug":"college-of-the-ozarks-concert-band-to-host-performance-saturday-dec-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/broadcast.branson.com\/2016\/11\/18\/college-of-the-ozarks-concert-band-to-host-performance-saturday-dec-3\/","title":{"rendered":"College of the Ozarks Concert Band to host performance Saturday, Dec. 3"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>POINT LOOKOUT, MO.<\/strong> \u2014 The College of the Ozarks Concert Band, directed by Dr. Kevin Powers, will perform a concert on <span data-term=\"goog_812750412\">Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016<\/span>, at <span data-term=\"goog_812750413\">3 p.m.<\/span> in the Royal Oak Forum at The Keeter Center.<\/p>\n<p>The concert is FREE and open to the public.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCome and spend a fun afternoon with the College of the Ozarks Concert Band,\u201d Powers said. \u201cWe will be playing a wide variety of festive music that will put you in the Christmas spirit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>PROGRAM:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cA Rhapsody of Carols,\u201d by Paul Jennings<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The concert band will present a medley of some of the best loved Christmas carols, including \u201cJoy to the World,\u201d \u201cIt Came upon a <span data-term=\"goog_812750414\">Midnight<\/span> Clear,\u201d \u201cChristmas is Coming,\u201d and \u201cO Come All Ye Faithful.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cCarol of the Bells,\u201d by Mykola Leontovich and Peter Wilhousky\/O\u2019Loughlin, arr.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This arrangement for concert band represents a classic Christmas piece.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cSymphonic Highlights from the \u201cKing and I,\u201d by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein\/Bulla, arr.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>First appearing in theaters in 1956, audiences now celebrate the 60<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of this timeless classic. The concert band will perform a collection of favorite tunes from this Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, including \u201cSomething Wonderful,\u201d \u201cI Whistle a Happy Tune,\u201d \u201cI Have Dreamed,\u201d \u201cThe March of the Siamese Children,\u201d \u201cGetting to Know You,\u201d and \u201cShall We Dance?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cToboggan Ride,\u201d by Stan Applebaum<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This fun, musical composition represents a race downhill on an out of control toboggan.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cStar of Wonder,\u201d by James Swearingen<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This is a beautiful and lush rendition of \u201cGreensleeves\u201d and \u201cWe Three Kings.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cA Show Stoppin\u2019 Christmas,\u201d by Chris Sharp<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Several different styles of music are incorporated into this Christmas work, including swing and funk.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For more information, contact the music department at <a href=\"tel:%28417%29%20690-2244\">(417) 690-2244<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>POINT LOOKOUT, MO. \u2014 The College of the Ozarks Concert Band, directed by Dr. Kevin Powers, will perform a concert on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016, at 3 p.m. in the Royal Oak Forum at The Keeter Center.
