Yakov Smirnoff’s New TV Talk Show to Air on KY-3

Branson, MO (Thursday, November 13, 2008) — Yakov Smirnoff announced today that his new TV Talk Show pilot will air on KY-3 TV on Saturday, November 22 at 9:00 pm. Yakov’s guests for this episode are ventriloquist & comedian Jim Barber and his wife Diane; author Willard Harley who wrote the book “His Needs, Her Needs;” and an amazing couple, Ray & Irma Ziff, who have been married for over 75 years. “My new TV talk show is a cross between Dr. Phil and Ellen, where it’s a lot of entertainment and a little bit of information, so you can learn and laugh your Yak-Off,” says Yakov. “My guests were great fun and an inspiration to us all. Tune in on the 22nd and you’ll find out why Law & Order got pre-empted for Love & Laughter!” *

Yakov says, “I had the idea to create a television show nearly 10 years ago. Since then it has really evolved into a new type of talk show–one that’s focusing on the important role that laughter plays in healthy relationships.” Along with his own special brand of comedy, this pilot episode features Yakov discussing Jim Barber’s unique relationship with his puppets as well as his wife. Yakov also delves into relationships during a segment called, “Yakking with Yakov on a Yacht.” During the show audience members interact with best-selling Christian author Dr. Willard Harley. His book “His Needs, Her Needs” provided plenty of animated discussion followed by a hilarious and heart-warming interview with the Ziffs, who recently celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary and were featured on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
Yakov earned his Master’s Degree in Positive Psychology at the University of Pennsylvania. He is an adjunct professor at Missouri State and Drury Universities. The television show has evolved from some of the concepts introduced to his students as well as seminars he has conducted around the world for the past five years.

Yakov asks viewers to visit LoveAndLaughter.com to provide comments on the TV show and to become a part of his Love and Laughter community. In addition to airing on November 22 at 9:00 pm, the pilot of The Yakov Smirnoff Show will air again on KY-3 on Sunday, November 23 at 1:00 pm.

Yakov arrived in the United States in 1977 with less than $100. In the years that followed, he has found success as a comedian and has come to embrace his new country with contagious optimism. He moved to Branson in 1993, and along with his successful Branson show at his own theater, has continued to amass accomplishments including books, CD’s, movies, TV appearances, a successful Broadway show As Long As We Both Shall Laugh, and is currently working on a humorous self-help book. Yakov is a featured writer for AARP magazine, the world’s largest circulation magazine with a distribution of 39 million. Yakov gives readers advice (and a few laughs) in his column titled, “Happily Ever Laughter.”

*Law & Order fans alert…The Yakov Smirnoff Show is only running this Saturday, visit www.KY3.com to see their program schedule.

Branson, MO – Employees from all five Myer Hotels recently participated in a food drive in support of Christian Action Ministry (CAM). CAM helps to feed over 4,300 families in Taney County. CAM Executive Director Joan Westfall accepted the donation and expressed appreciation as this will help provide Thanksgiving meals for families in need. “Laura Clark, Executive Housekeeper at Best Western Center Pointe Inn posed a challenge to the other Executive Housekeepers within Myer Hotels and they responded with great charity toward this important cause” stated Jeff Keen, Assistant General Manager of the Best Western Center Pointe Inn.

A total of 415 cans and boxes of food were collected through the month of October with the Best Western Center Pointe Inn placing first with 170 items collected. Runner up was the Best Western Music Capital Inn at 118 pieces.

“We had fun competing to see which property could donate the most canned foods, and enjoyed helping CAM provide food to thousands of our neighbors here in the Branson area. We were blessed to be a part of this good cause and thank everyone who participated in the food drive,” expressed Chris Myer, Vice President of Marketing for Myer Hotels. In addition, Myer Hotels has challenged all other hotels in greater Branson to match or exceed their food drive total. Myer Hotels also supported CAM’s Butterflies at Branson community-wide art exhibit 2008 fund raiser.

Loren, Gloria — and their 13 children — are bringing their popular Christmas show to the Circle B Theater during November and December.

Showcasing family teamwork, tight harmonies, and award-winning bluegrass pickin’, the Wissmann family have spent the past five years traveling the nation, performing by requests from over 36 states, Canada, and Mexico. Their Christmas show features exciting, bluegrass arrangements of classic holiday favorites, accapella six-part caroling, original music, and priceless children’s harmonies.

Hailing from Seward County, Nebraska, the Wissmann children range in age from 26 to 2 years old — Rachel, Ruth, Josiah, Bethany, Andrew, Elizabeth, Matthias, Stephen, Hannah, Susanna, Alaythia, Nathanael, and Charissa — respectively.

Music starts at an early age for this crew, and over the years their musical collection has grown to over 15 instruments, including violins, banjo, guitars, mandolin, dobro, hammered dulcimer, harmonicas, keyboard, harp, flute, and more. With a strong bluegrass flavor, their music provides a powerful platform for their close family relationships and love for Jesus Christ.

And now, for the first time ever, they are bringing their heartwarming laughter, talent, and musical skill to the Branson stage.

“While honeymooning here in 1980, my wife and I fell in love with this area, so it is an incredible privilege to be playing here as a family.” says Loren.

Michael, from Circle B Theater, adds, “We are excited to have the Wissmann family here for the holiday season. They will be a great addition to our Christmas season line up.”

Circle B is located at 200 Jess Jo Pkwy — off Wildwood Drive, just North of Highway 76. For more information, or to purchase show tickets please contact Circle B at # 417-336-1828

Featured Speaker Lt. Col. Oliver North

On Monday, November 10, 2008 at Branson’s Chateau on the Lake, Lt. Col. Oliver North (USMC- ret) will be featured as the keynote speaker at the 233rd Anniversary of the Founding of the United States Marine Corps.

Tickets to the event, which is open to the public, are $45 per person and include Dinner, the Marine Corp Birthday Celebration, Col. North’s keynote address and the Marine Corps Ball featuring a live dance band.

The time honored tradition of the Marine Corps Birthday Cake Cutting Ceremony is not often witnessed by those outside the Corps. The Corps was founded on November 10, 1775 and from that day forward, the tenth of November has been the climax of the Marine Corps year.

The birthday of the Marine Corps is celebrated officially and socially wherever one or more Marines are stationed; aboard ship, at posts of other services, even in the field. November tenth is honored by the cutting and sharing of a birthday cake. A sword is used to cut the cake as a reminder that the Marine Corps are “a band of warriors, committed to carrying the sword so that our nation may live in peace.”

About Col. North

From his bio: “Oliver L. North is a combat decorated Marine, a #1 bestselling author, the founder of a small business, an inventor with three U.S. patents, a syndicated columnist, and the host of ‘War Stories’ on the FOX News Channel. He claims, however, that his most important accomplishment is being “the husband of one and the father of four.”

He is also the founder of Freedom Alliance, a foundation which provides scholarships for the sons and daughters of service members killed in action.

Seating is limited. For tickets contact:
