Subject: “CHRISTIAN BLUEGRASS” FAMILY TO PERFORM
By: Veronica Barrientos
The Link Family, a Christian Bluegrass band, will perform at College of the Ozarks on Thursday, March 31, at 7 p.m., in the Jones Auditorium.
The band consists of Lance Link, the father and lead Bass player, mother Becky, five children and two in-laws from Lebanon, Missouri. Each member of the family, including Lance and Becky’s 10 year-old son, participates in the performance by singing and playing instruments such as fiddles, banjos and guitars.
Bluegrass music dates to the early 1600s. Although it is thought to have originated in Ireland, Scotland or England, early American settlers of the Appalachian Mountains heavily influenced the musical style. The songs depicted day-to-day experiences of settlers new to America. The Link Family shares the same traditions as those families by sharing their own stories through song.
The family has won many awards over the past five years, including second place in the Silver Dollar City Youth in Bluegrass contest three years in a row from 2004-2006.
This convocations is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Christian Action Ministries at (417) 690-3446.

Comedian Paul Harris announced this week that he will be performing his show along with the World-Famous Cleverlys at the prestigious Oak Ridge Boys Theatre for the 2011 season. 1st show is Friday, May 6th at 8 pm.
Arkansas native Paul Harris has made a name for himself on the comedy circuit. He cut his comedy teeth on Branson stages.
In 2005 Paul moved to Nashville and began touring the mid south and south eastern parts of the country. He appeared in Comedy Clubs and has been the opening act for Blake Shelton, Jeff Foxworthy and Little Big Town to mention a few.
In June 2010 Harris joined the ranks as a performer on the coveted LP Field (Country Music’s biggest stage) in Nashville to close out the 2010 CMA Fest. In his debut appearance Paul quickly grabbed the audience of over 40,000 people and kept them rolling in the aisles throughout the evening.
Harris also tours with his bluegrass band, the Cleverly’s. The Cleverly’s are a YouTube sensation that has recently received a lot of international attention. They performed at the International Bluegrass Music Association Awards in Nashville in 2010 and will appear again in 2011.
Whether Paul is doing his popular stand up routines or on stage with the Cleverly’s, he delivers a show that keeps audiences coming back again and again.
