Branson, MO, June 21, 2010 – Summer is here and many families will be visiting the areas shopping, dining and entertainment destination – Branson Landing – to shop for new school clothes, backpacks and all the necessities that help make the first day back to school, an enjoyable one. Unfortunately, for many local families the thought of getting their children ready for that much-anticipated day is fought with anxiety and financial crisis. As an on-going support mechanism for the community, Branson Landing has launched
the fourth seasonal school shoe drive campaign “School Shoes for Kids” in partnership this year, with Branson Visitor TV and Presleys’ Country Jubilee – Branson’s Original Show on the Strip.

“Here at Branson Landing, we’ve been very fortunate to have the local community as well as our visiting guests, embrace the various charitable events we’ve scheduled throughout the year. In particular, the “School Shoes for Kids” Campaign continues to be one of our biggest community successes and it is veryrewarding to see both the retailers at the Landing and our visitors and guests, working together to provide the
gift of a new pair of school shoes to our local children in need,” stated Tammy Scholten, Director of Marketing
for Branson Landing.

“Last year, we had seven retail shoe stores serving as drop-off locations and we were able to collect over 800 new pairs of shoes…all of which were distributed to children living in Stone and Taney County. This year’s campaign promises to be even bigger with seven locations at Branson Landing participating and the new partnership with Presleys’ Country Jubilee, with a goal of collecting over 1000 pairs of new shoes for our area school children,” concluded Scholten.

In a continuing effort to share this philanthropic program with the Branson entertainment industry, participating Branson Landing retailers will provide donors with two FREE child’s admission tickets to see, Presleys’ Country Jubilee. “We were delighted when Tammy Scholten from the Branson Landing approached us with the opportunity to participate in the program this year,” commented Steve Presley, from the Presleys’ Country Jubilee Theatre. “Community programs that benefit our youth are very important to our family. We believe in supporting the Branson area and are proud to sponsor the program with free tickets to see the Presleys’ Country Jubilee,” concluded Presley.

Participation in the “School Shoes for Kids” program is very easy. Shoppers can simply purchase a new pair of shoes for school aged children—now through September 6th and drop them off at any of these Branson Landing business locations: Bass Pro Shops Famous Footwear

Gresham, OR, June 8, 2010 — U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint, LTG Jerry Boykin, Dr. Stu Weber and LtCol Oliver North will be keynote speakers at a Freedom Congress event slated for Saturday, July 3, 9:30 a.m. at the College of the Ozarks.

“We believe America’s government has departed from the vision of our founders—men like George Washington and John Adams,” said Oliver North, author of American Heroes. “We are deeply concerned that the virtues and values proclaimed in our Declaration of Independence and our Constitution are being abandoned and we believe there is no better time to act—than now.”

“All four of us raised our right hands and took an oath to support and defend our Constitution. Each of us has studied our founding documents. That’s our perspective when we address issues of concern to every American including; individual responsibility and liberty, national sovereignty and defense, the stifling debt situation, and our ever expanding, more intrusive and expensive government bureaucracy.”

“We will deliver inspiring and educational information about how far we’ve drifted from God and our founding principles as a nation and what we must do to get our country back on track,” North said.

The event will be held at the Keeter Gymnasium at the College of the Ozarks, Branson, MO. Registration is $10. Also appearing at the event will be recording artist Natalie Grant.

Freedom Congress was formed to provide people of all generations the knowledge and inspiration needed to bring our nation back to the vision of its founding fathers and the principles of the Bible. For more information and to register, go online to www.freedomcongress.org or call 866-440-7880.

Branson-A public ceremony marking the 60th anniversary of America’s longest continuing war will be held June 25 by the local Harry S. Truman Chapter 135 of the Korean War Veterans Association. The hour-long program will begin at 10 a.m. at the Korean War Monument in Ozarks Memorial Park Cemetery on State Highway 76 East.

At 4 a.m. on June 25, 1950, seven North Korean reinforced infantry divisions and supporting troops stormed into the lightly defended Republic of Korea. The program this June will include presentation of the Colors by the Forsyth High School Marine Corps Jr. ROTC color guard; placement of a memorial wreath, National Anthem sung by recording artist Jana King Evans, and Korean dancers in native costume. The Rev. Young K. Yoon, senior pastor of the Springfield Korean Presbyterian Church will pronounce the invocation and benediction.

Navy veteran an recent College of the Ozarks graduate Luke Barnett of Forsyth will reflect upon the importance of our history to today’s generation. KWVA members, area leaders and members of the area’s Korean-American community will have brief remarks.
