“Lumberjack Competition Comes to Branson’s Most Fun Place to Eat”

Branson, MO – Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede has opened its 18th season, taking the rivalry up a notch, high into the treetops, with the new “Rumble In The Treetops” lumberjack competition! The new feature showcases the strength and agility of skilled lumberjack teams as they climb, chop, saw and log roll their way through a four-event relay.

Logging is a part of Branson’s history. Over a century ago, logs were cut and floated down the White River to Branson, where they were taken off and processed into ties for the Transcontinental Railroad as well as for wagon spokes and pencils.

“The new Rumble In The Treetops lumberjack competition at my Dixie Stampede is a really fun way to showcase a bit of history,” added Dolly. “And to see those log-rolling lumberjacks toss one another in the water is the best part of all!”

The first leg, the tree climb, is a race to the top of a tall pine. Next is the two-man crosscut, with teams battling to saw through a giant log. In the third leg, the lumberjacks rely on accuracy and sheer muscle as they split a log in the underhand chopping competition, the first to sever the log wins. In the final leg, the burly lumberjacks square off in an old-fashioned log roll. The first to lose his balance and land in the water loses.

The winning lumberjack team collects medals for each leg of the relay. Rumble In The Treetops is part of the friendly rivalry between the North and South, around which the dinner attraction is based, and includes trick riding, barrel race, Roman riding and more.

Red, Hot…& Blue!

Seventeen Years and Still Going Strong at the

Clay Cooper Theatre!

Red, Hot…& Blue! may have been around Branson for 17 years, but this show was actually born in a small college town, Norman, Oklahoma! The producer was and still is Christopher Tucker, and back then the show was known as Christopher & Co., featuring the 1920’s all the way up through the 1990’s! Chris had an eye for perfection and always had a plan for the show to get better than the year before. He met his friend, Tina Cooper, as she was auditioning for musicals at the University of Oklahoma, and soon the two collaborated, making Christopher & Co. one of a kind, with high energy singing, dancing, and even a little comedy!

Scott Sartain came aboard after working a summer job with Chris in Shangri-La. The show was a hit in Oklahoma as the cast of six performed for several special events including Miss Norman and Miss OU Pageants, OU School of Music Recruitment Banquets, as well as Family reunions, specialty entertainment at country clubs across Oklahoma, and special performances at Tinker AFB. When graduation took place, the cast separated with hopes of meeting back up to do special “reunion performances”. But little did they know, something much bigger was in store for them!

Tina received a job in Nashville while Chris and Scott took jobs on a cruise ship. The next audition took Chris and Scott to the heart of Branson with Radio City and the Rockettes! After much discussion, the two decided to bring back the show as co-producers, and changed the name of Christopher & Co. to Red, Hot…& Blue! Tina came to visit them, and before you know it, the three of them were performing the show that brought them together in the beginning!

Red, Hot…& Blue! has been the guest entertainment on several Holland America Cruises as well as toured the USA and has been featured performers with two live symphony orchestras . This incredible show has also won several awards including Best Costumes, Best Breakfast Show, and Best Dancers. If you get a chance, take a morning or afternoon and enjoy this high energy show at The Clay Cooper Theatre! They will have you laughing, crying, singing along, and maybe even dancin’ in your seat as you hear some of the great songs from yesterday!

This was it! On an October night in 1998, the spotlight rose, catching the sparkle of a single glove. The crowd seemed to hold its breath as the iconic silhouette of the black hat took form. Michael Jackson tribute artist William Hall had taken the stage at the Imperial Palace in Las Vegas for perhaps the most memorable performance of his career.
Over the past 29 years, Legends in Concert has entertained over 15 million fans across the globe. Each and every audience has a very special energy that makes every performance unique. But some crowds are simply unforgettable. And for William Hall…that night…it was.
There was as unusual energy resonating throughout the crowd that night. Backstage the entertainers had heard the rumors as well. Was it true? Was the “real” Michael Jackson going to attend the show? All eyes scanned the theater doors for his entrance. And then, wearing his signature black hat and dark sunglasses, Michael Jackson quietly slipped into booth 206 just after the lights went down. This would be a Legends in Concert show that tribute artist William Hall would not soon forget. Following the show, Jackson congratulated Hall on a great performance. Jackson was very proud and very pleased with such an incredible tribute.
After Michael Jackson’s tragic passing in 2009, each and every performance by tribute artist William Hall seemed to become even more spellbinding. In 2011, Michael Jackson’s mother, Katherine Jackson, attended the Legends in Concert show at Harrah’s Casino in Las Vegas. She was moved to tears by William Hall’s tribute performance to her late son. Just as Jackson did, Hall truly commanded the stage; every movement, every note filled with such passion and emotion. Only Legends in Concert could offer such a high caliber performance, allowing the audience to experience “The King of Pop” as never before.
Michael Jackson’s legacy lives on not only through the Legends in Concert show, but also through the priceless memorabilia that is currently on display at Dick Clark’s American Bandstand Theater in Branson, Missouri. The theater houses authentic memorabilia from Dick Clark’s personal collection, including stage-worn wardrobe pieces from Michael Jackson as well as the signed contract from the Jackson 5’s appearance on American Bandstand.
Now through Labor Day weekend, William Hall will be performing as Michael Jackson in the Legends in Concert show at Dick Clark’s American Bandstand Theater. Don’t miss this once in a lifetime opportunity to experience William Hall’s stellar tribute to “The King of Pop”. It is sure to be an experience you will not soon forget.
Come celebrate the life of “The King of Pop” during Michael Jackson Tribute Week from
June 18th – 25th. For tickets call 1-800-374-7469.
