Please be at the entertainment tent at Branson Fest by 1:00 on April 11. A complimentary lunch at Golden Corral will be provided to all Persian Gulf veterans who attend. Reservations are required.

On August 2, 1990, Iraq invaded and seized Kuwait. To liberate Kuwait, a United Nations coalition led by the US built up forces in Saudi Arabia. The coalition grew to over 650,000 troops from 28 nations, including 532,000 US troops.

The Iraqis, under Saddam Hussein, refused to withdraw from Kuwait. In January 1991, allied air forces destroyed key targets in and around Baghdad and bombed Iraq’s armed forces in and around Kuwait.

On February 27, 1991, President Bush declared a cease fire. Allied and Iraqi military leaders met on the battlefield to define terms. Although Iraq agreed to abide by all of the UN resolutions on March 3, the official cease fire wasn’t accepted and signed until April 6.
