Cirque Imagination’s “Montage” show, featuring former Cirque du Soleil performers, has announced its plans to postpone the November 29 – December 5 visit previously scheduled at Branson’s Tri-Lakes Center. The group recently decided to relocate to the Starlite Theatre, where the public will have more chances to view its world-renowned talents. “Montage” performances will now span the entire Summer 2010 season, from May 14 through September 5, and following a brief hiatus, will return November 2 through December 19.

Judy Blake, Director of Business Development at Cirque Imagination offered insight on the situation. “We’re hoping Branson’s residents and visitors won’t regard the shift in schedule as an inconvenience, but as a trade-off for something better. With our longer-term commitment in 2010, families will have additional opportunities and increased flexibility for selecting a “Montage” show time that meets the needs of their agendas. Cirque Imagination is devoted to providing our audience with unmatched entertainment, and we will certainly work with current ticket holders to guarantee our postponed arrival won’t deter that from happening.”

Measures in place allow people with tickets or vouchers for the November and December “Montage” performances to save the passes for future admission to one of next year’s shows.

In the meantime, Cirque Imagination continues its journey on the corporate circuit and private sector. The acts it shared with Branson during its September 13-19 stay will be available as contracted entertainment for fundraisers, business events such as tradeshows, and personal celebrations. Talents include hand-balancing, contortion, pole-climbing, aerial chiffon with a 21 foot drop, duo strength, juggling , break dancing, and German wheel, all choreographed to lively, original music.

“As additional stops are made on Cirque Imagination’s national tour, Branson will always remain a favorite we wish to share our world of entertainment with,” Blake added.

For more information about tickets purchased through the Tri-Lakes Center, call the Box Office at 417.336.0219. For photos and additional information about “Montage,” visit www.cirquemontage.com, or contact Judy Blake, Director of Business Development.

The tragic Samoan earthquake and tsunami have brought tears and heartache to Branson, as the tragedy became personal for the Samoan performers in the Island  Fire Show at the Dutton Family Theatre.

Iefata Saoleititi and his wife Rachel were celebrating the September 22nd birth of their baby daughter Deanna Marguerite when they received the news that their two year old son, Iefata Jr., perished in the disaster.  The boy had been staying with Iefata’s parents in Samoa during the Island Fire performance season.

The Saoleititi’s are planning to return to Samoa on October 6th, provided they can arrange for an emergency issuance of a passport for baby Deanna.  Branson City Administrator, Dean Kruithoff, has already contaced Senator Bond’s office for assistance in the matter.  Dean and Alderman Cris Bohinc visited with the grief-stricken family today to offer their condolences and support.

Bella Dutton, the wife of Jonathan and a native of Samoa, announced that there will be an Island Fire Show fundraiser held at the Dutton Theater on Saturday, October 3rd at 8 PM.  She told us, “Our Island Fire performers felt a need to present their show on Saturday night in an effort to raise money for Iefata and Rachel to return home to Samoa, as well as covering burial expenses.  Flights to Samoa, particularly at the last minute, are very expensive.  Tickets will be $10 and all proceeds will go towards helping the Saoleititi’s.  Those wanting the Island Fire meal that normally comes with the purchase of a full-priced ticket may purchase it for an additional$10.  Any additional funds will be directed to helping the other performers who have lost family, friends and homes.”

Another performer, Poinsettia (Tia) Taefu was awaiting word on her sister who was missing when she received a call saying her sister was safe.  The relief was short-lived when she was then told her cousin’s three children had perished.  Tia’s home and village was also destroyed, as was the home and village of fellow performer Luisa Tagomoa.

Bad news also reached other performers, including Hanson Simi Paialii, Jr., Malakai Lavatai, and Salele Moeai, along with Bella Dutton, as they learned of extended family members that died in the disaster.

Aside from the fundraiser this Saturday, Sheila Dutton told us, “We have also established a relief fund to help all of the families of our Island Fire performers.  Anyone wishing to contribute can make donations at the Dutton Family Theater Box Office, bring them to the fundraising event, or deposit them to the Island Fire Family Relief Fund at Ozark Mountain Bank.  We have arranged to keep the fund open throughout the remainder of the Island Fire Season which runs through first week of December.”

The 11th Annual Hollister Grape and Fall Festival, presented by the Hollister Area Chamber of Commerce and the City of Hollister, will be held on Saturday, September 26th from 10 am to 6 pm on Downing Street in Historic Downtown Hollister.

The Grape and Fall Festival features great food, crafts, children’s activities, live music and entertainment from some of Branson’s best performers, a wine tasting garden, and the signature event—the world famous Grape Stomp competition sponsored by Branson Ridge Winery, where teams compete for the honor of winning the Ugly Monkey Trophy.  The annual event is one of the most popular in the region, and attendance has exceeded 5,000 people in previous years.  This year promises to be the most exciting and well-attended Grape and Fall Festival ever.

The Grape Stomp competition is one of the most anticipated events of the year in Hollister.  Stomping teams wear costumes and choreograph their two-minute routine, while toga-clad local elected officials, like Taney County Presiding Commissioner Chuck Pennell and Hollister Mayor David Tate judge their efforts.  This year, five teams will be competing for the honor.  Our local dignitaries are above reproach, but during the Grape Stomp competition, the teams are encouraged to win the judge’s favor with baked goods, pies, and other treats.

The Grape and Fall Festival is a celebration of Hollister’s 100 year history.  In the early days, Hollister was an important stop on the railroad, and autumn was the time of year when people brought agricultural products and other goods to Hollister for transportation to larger markets.  2010 is Hollister’s Centennial, and there are plenty of events being planned to usher in this important milestone in Hollister’s History.

Schedule of Events

8:00 am Bike Ride
Registration for the bike ride begins at 7:30 am, and the riders will leave from Chad A. Fuqua Memorial Park in Downtown Hollister at 8:00.  This 12 mile fun-ride will go through Hollister to Branson Creek and back.

10:00 am – 6:00 pm Festival
Food, crafts, and live music from some of the area’s best groups on Historic Downing Street in Downtown Hollister.  Kids activities and fun for everyone.

2:00 pm Grape Stomp Competition
Teams compete for the Ugly Monkey Trophy by winning the judges’ favor in this hilarious and entertaining event.  Contestants are up to their knees in grapes.

For more information on the Hollister Grape & Fall Festival call 417.334.3050 or contact the Branson Tourism Center, one of Branson’s largest and most respected vacation planning services and sellers of Branson show and attraction tickets and lodging. BTC can be reached by calling 800- 785-1550 or through its website www.BransonTourismCenter.com.
