Local Singer/Actress Diane Barber Lands Lead Role
In Tracy J Trost’s Theatre Production of A Christmas Snow
Playing At The Starlite Theatre This November

Branson, MO ~ Branson-based, Diane Barber will play Kathleen alongside award-winning actor Muse Watson in Tracy J Trost’s theatre production of A Christmas Snow, which runs November 1-December 8 at the Starlite Theatre in Branson, MO.

Barber has a long history of leading roles in musicals and plays around the country, as well as film, television, voice over and singing credits. Her vocal and theatre credits include, Maria in The Sound of Music, Mabel in Pirates of Penzance and Bonnie Boylan in Annie, and she has appeared in productions with Richard Wright, Susan Powell and Larry Gatlin. Locally, Barber was in last year’s TLC production of Hello, Dolly and is a featured vocalist in the Hamner Barber Theater production, The Wings of Christmas, along with her husband, ventriloquist Jim Barber and their 11-year-old daughter, Jessica. Playing Kathleen in this production adds even more variety to her success as an actress.

Garon Brett Returns From Two Year Mission In Bogota, Colombia
Branson entertainer returns from two year LDS mission

On Thursday, August 30th, 2012 Branson, Missouri entertainer Garon Brett of The Bretts Show will return home from Bogota, Colombia where he has been serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for two years. “We have missed him a lot.” says Tom Brett, father of the family, “But we have been extremely blessed by his serving a mission. So much that I’m a little nervous to have him come back,” jokes Tom.
Missions are anything but rosy though. “We have definitely worried about him being down there. Colombia isn’t known for being a safe place. Garon has been robbed twice that we know of, but happily hasn’t been hurt. Apparently, that is a normal part of life.” These two years have not only been challenging for Garon, but for the whole family as they have had to learn to adapt and fill in. “Without having Garon we’ve definitely been pushed to become better performers individually,” says Tom. The improvement has certainly been noted, as currently, The Bretts Show has been nominated as Branson’s Best Show by BransonShowAwards.com the last two years, a first ever for The Bretts!
Tom, Andrea, and Brydon will be leaving on the 23rd, and will fly down to Bogota to pick Garon up. They’re spending a day with Garon in his missionary duties. Then he will be released from his duties, and the four of them will travel around Colombia as Garon takes them on a tour of his missionary experience. The Bretts will perform twice while in Colombia – once in the city of Bogota, and another in Ibague. They return on August 30th.
Garon will be back in the show permanently within a few weeks of returning. His being back with The Bretts will add many elements to their already powerful show. For example, Garon is a phenomenal songwriter (NSAI Co-Grand Champion Song Writer 2011), he adds to the youth factor in the show, he adds another set of hands off stage and in the office, his mission has added maturity and experience that will be helpful in the show, and lastly Brydon and Garon have long been planning some new and exciting things that they will be releasing in the near future. In addition to working in The Bretts Show, Garon plans to continue pursuing a degree in Music Media.

The Starlite Theatre in Branson, Missouri is proud to announce the addition of country music stars T. Graham Brown and Johnny Lee to the fall concert series “Stars From Larry’s Country Diner and Country’s Family Reunion.”

T. Graham Brown and Johnny Lee will kick off the second week of the series which features legends of country music that have appeared on the popular RFD-TV programs “Larry’s Country Diner” and “Country’s Family Reunion, both hosted by radio and television legend Larry Black. The pair will perform at 8pm on September 11 and 12, and at 3pm on September 13.

T. Graham Brown has charted more than twenty singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart including three number one hits: “Hell and High Water,” “Don’t Go To Strangers” and “Darlene.” He has eight other top ten hits from his thirteen studio albums.

Johnny Lee’s 1980 hit “Lookin’ For Love” from the Urban Cowboy soundtrack topped the country charts for three weeks and hit number two on the pop charts. Lee has had four number one country songs in addition to “Lookin For Love”: “One in a Million,” “Bet Your Heart On Me,” “The Yellow Rose,” and “You Could Have Heard a Heartbreak.” He has a total of twelve top-ten hits.

Branson, Mo…CAM’s Gospel Sing-Off fundraiser, scheduled for 2 PM Sunday, September 2nd at Sight & Sound Theatres in Branson, will feature a panel of six celebrity judges to evaluate the 10 competing finalists. Two of the judges have been on the other side of the judging table when competing on America’s Got Talent – Michael Cole of Voices of Glory and Ben Dutton of The Duttons.

Michael Cole

Michael Cole, who will also be opening the Sing Off with his brother and sister in a guest appearance by Voices of Glory, is a graduate of Branson High, attended Jim Bakker’s Master’s Media Production Program, and is currently pursuing a degree in music production. He and his siblings placed fifth in America’s Got Talent.

Ben Dutton

Ben Dutton is the principal cellist for the Duttons, as well as a highly skilled mandolin and fiddle player, vocalist, dancer, and comedian. Most recently Ben is has gained some notoriety as his identical twin cousin Julio in the Dutton shows. The Dutton Family opened the very first Gospel Sing-Off in 2009 and was a Top 10 Finalist in America’s Got Talent.

Monte Schisler

New to the judges table this year is Monte Schisler, the News Director for Earls Family Broadcasting (KOMC/KRZK and KHOZ). After attending School of the Ozarks where he studied speech communications with an emphasis in broadcasting, Monte went on to work as an award-winning journalist at KTTS and KY3 in Springfield, as well as NBC, ESPN, ABC, and the Missouri Radio Network.

Ronnie Page

Continuing his tradition as a judge for all four Sing Offs is Ronnie Page, entertainment editor for the Branson Daily Independent. Ronnie began his musical career with the Oak Ridge Boys in 1956 as their baritone singer and emcee, then spending 22 years with the legendary Chuck Wagon Gang, as well as hosting a Nashville gospel music video show, serving on the Gospel Music Association’s Board of Directors, and was inducted into Nashville’s Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame in 2000.

Jak Knudsen

Returning for a second year is Jak Knudsen, one of the brothers who comprise the extremely popular vocal group SIX, appearing at the Mickey Gilley Theater. Last year SIX was the opening guest act for the Sing Off and is once again one of our Keynote Sponsors for this event.

George Dyer

Returning for a third year is Branson’s top tenor George Dyer, who opened the second annual Sing-Off. Currently performing at the Dutton Theater, George is classically trained in both operatic and musical theater. Over the years, he has performed with the NY Opera at Lincoln Center and been a guest soloist with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

Bob Hubbard

Host for the fourth straight year will be the legendary Bob Hubbard of the Jordanaires and Foggy River Boys.

This distinguished judging panel will determine the top three winners from the 10 finalists who will compete in CAM’s 4th Annual Gospel Sing-Off. Branson Tourism Center, another Keynote Sponsor, is primarily responsible for the prize purse of $1,500 to the first place winner, $1,000 for second place, and $500 for the third place finisher. Additionally, Silver Dollar City will provide this year’s winner with three performance slots on Monday, September 3rd during the closing festivities of their Southern Gospel Picnic.

The Gospel Sing-Off is CAM’s annual operational fundraiser to support the CAM Food Pantries in Branson and Forsyth, which is currently providing services to an average of over 1,000 families per month in Taney County.

Tickets for the 2 PM show are a $12 donation for adults, $6 for children 12 and over. After 50 plus years of touring, George Jones has decided he is ready to slow down and spend more time with family and friends. George Jones was quoted as saying “It is tough to stop doing what I love, but the time has come”. As a tribute to his loyal fans he wants to tour one more year and let them know, this will be the last.
